Application info and procedure - The Power of Knowledge

Are you a student in global health, international medicine, or a related field? Do you want to join KIT’s Power of Knowledge event, get the opportunity to follow a writing workshop from a science communications expert, and write a piece for us that will be published through our and KIT’s channels? Then we want to hear from you!

At The Power of Knowledge (PoK) event, KIT (alongside co-creators Asfari Institute and EthiXPERT) will bring together representatives from national and international governments, policy organisations, think tanks, philanthropic organisations, corporations, and non-governmental organisations from around the globe. Together, you will examine how the North-South paradigm shapes the flow of knowledge adversely and how we can effectively move away from an imbalanced structure towards a more equitable one by creating equitable partnerships. The event will be hosted simultaneously across three cities: Amsterdam, Beirut, and Johannesburg. 

We at KCGH want to hear from the next generation of game changers in global health. We have 30 tickets (Amsterdam x20, Johannesburg x5, Beirut x5) available for students to attend the event. Selected participants will receive: 

• • An online writing workshop on August 31st by Stephan van Duin (Co-founder of The Online Scientist, journalist, expert in science communication);
  • A sponsored ticket to the PoK event at your preferred location;
  • An opportunity to publish a written piece on the KCGH and KIT website.

To be eligible for selection, you must be: 

• • Available to join the PoK event on September 1st in the respective cities on site (Amsterdam or Beirut) or online (Johannesburg);
  • Enrolled in a educational institute (academic or applied sciences), in a program related to global health;
  • Be interested in (writing about) equitable partnerships in the field of global health (policy, research, education, etc.)
