On 14 April, NSGH's Zorg voor Klimaat and GEO working groups organised a webinar on the impact of pesticides on health and environment. During this online session, participants gained insight into recent scientific developments and the potential impact of pesticide exposure on humans.
Coco Fuhri Snethlage (Amsterdam UMC) discussed the effects of pesticides on the human microbiome and the possible relationship with various health problems, providing practical tools for healthcare practice. Professor Mohamed Aqiel Dalvie (University of Cape Town) highlighted the impact of pesticides on children's brains and development, putting this in an international perspective, with examples from South Africa.
The webinar offered healthcare professionals and other interested parties an accessible overview of current knowledge and tools to give this theme a place in practice.
