Global Health Internship Marketplace

Welcome to the Global Health Internship Marketplace, a platform that connects students with internship opportunities within the field of Global Health. Developed within the EWUU Alliance, in collaboration with the Global Health Hub and its Communities of Practice, this platform brings organisations and emerging talent together in one accessible place. This internship marketplace enables students to easily discover and apply for relevant internships, while making it easy for organisations to reach qualified and motivated candidates from different universities and disciplines.

FAQs

Yes. Interdisciplinarity is strongly encouraged and students without a (global) health or medical background are also welcome to apply. Many internships are open to candidates from a variety of fields of study. For specific requirements, always check individual internship vacancies as they may differ.

Communities of Practice (CoPs) are thematic working groups within the Dutch Global Health Hub that focus on specific priorities from the Dutch Global Health Strategy. They bring together government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions and other partners to foster cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation.

The three CoPs are:

  1. Strengthening health systems
  2. Pandemic preparedness
  3. Climate and health

The internships offered through this platform are embedded in these CoPs. This means they are directly linked to current policy developments and global health practice.

No. The platform provides a selection of internship opportunities and aims to encourage collaboration between global health organisations. Students are also encouraged to actively search further on their own outside this platform, as demand for internships can be high and many valuable opportunities are also available elsewhere.

Clear and timely communication is important. Let an organisation know as soon as possible whether you accept an internship offer or not, so they can take this into account and possibly approach other candidates. Avoid making organisations wait unnecessarily long for a response.

Before applying, make sure you go through the internship requirements and expectations of your programme carefully. This helps assess whether there is a good match, saves time for both you and the organisation, and allows you to communicate more confidently when an organisation contacts you.

This platform brings together students and internship opportunities, but does not organise the internships themselves. If the contact details do not work, it is best to contact the organisation directly through their public contact information. Also, in case of ambiguities in the internship description, it is advisable to contact the relevant organisation directly for clarification.
